ancient greece
Today in Western Civilization we continue on with the power point and learned more about Greece. We talked about the big question about homer an if he was real or if he was just a made up fictional figure. We also listened to a reading from the Odyssey when Odysseus and his men are on the island with a large giant and they are stuck in his cave until Odysseus think of the plan to stab the giant in the eye with a burning stick, they escape and steal some of the giant’s sheep. When the men are leaving the island, Odysseus called the giant many harsh names which made the giant throw a large rock towards the boat but barely missed them. We also learned that the Odyssey was 12,110 lines of dactylic hexameter. We learned that Homer composed the Iliad and the Odyssey but did not write them down, someone years later wrote them down and that is how we have the books today.
