warring city-states

Today in class we did not learn from the power point but we read pages 127-133 in the textbook, the topic was warring city-states. I learned that boys were the only one that was allowed to go to school. They learned reading, grammar, poetry, history, math, and music, they were also trained in public speaking while they were in school, this was because public speaking is a big part in their day to day life back in ancient Athens. Meanwhile, when the boys were at school the girls were at home being taught how to take care of the home and the people that were living in it. As the boys got older in Athena they were mostly sent to military school where they would learn how to deafened there city-state. In Sparta, the boys would be sent off to military training at the age of seven and they would be expected to serve in the military until the age 60 or until they died.
