Rome
Today in class we learned about Julius Cesar which I think
is a pretty cool topic, here is a poem about Julius Cesar by Kevin Wang
enter
on through
with
an anguish look on his face
as
the tremor of the strings strikes in the air
and
brings a thought to take the name up to hold
like
the Romans
like
the Republic
they
break open to feast
to
see the thoroughness of the government
til
the bell claims a death to behold a truth to rise amongst the dead
hold
dear to the audience
rather
than believing the white lie
seek
with the deeming truth
as
two others withhold the future of what lies right there
its
been a while
since
he came back from the victory march
but
it just seemed like yesterday
when
I saw that sweat gleaming off of his body
shining
with pride under the hot, hot sun
it
seemed just like yesterday
when
there was a great cry out in the front of the courtyard
where
the flock of birds cried and flew away
leaving
only but the mass of feathers fluttering in this cold, cold wind
leaving
only but
only
but the cry which echoed through the silent day
where
flags of victory once blew so proudly
now
hang still with black covering it
while
tears fall from the havens above
and
the rage fill the eyes of this loyal one
to
avenge, avenge the death of his once so close friend
named...
Julius
Caesar
